August 18, 2026: A new Grand Challenges funding opportunity is seeking bold ideas to make pathogen sequencing cheaper, simpler, and easier to scale, with a target of US$1–10 per sample-to-sequence. The call focuses on innovative workflows and methodologies that make existing sequencing platforms more affordable and practical for routine use in public health laboratories across low- and middle-income countries.
Co-funded by the Gates Foundation and Temasek Foundation, the initiative brings together partners including the WHO International Pathogen Surveillance Network, Africa Pathogen Genomics Initiative, and Asia Pathogen Genomics Initiative.
Applications are due by September 29, 2026.
