Gregory Armstrong, MD
Dr. Armstrong is an infectious disease physician and medical epidemiologist with expertise in the epidemiology and control of viral diseases as well as the application of pathogen genomics in public health. He retired from the United States Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in 2022 after more than 25 years, including as the inaugural director of the Advanced Molecular Detection Program, an initiative to bring next-generation sequencing and bioinformatics into the US public health system.
Caxton Murira, MSc, BSc
Caxton Murira is the Programme Lead for the Clinical Research and Trials Community (CRTC) at the Science for Africa Foundation. With over 15 years of experience, Caxton is a seasoned expert in global health leveraging this to drive innovations for public health especially in clinical research and trials across Africa. His career spans successful projects in Health, Governance, Climate Change, and Agriculture. Before joining SFA Foundation, he held similar roles at the African Academy of Sciences, IntraHealth, and the State University of New York | CID. Additionally, Caxton is an active member of the Research Software Alliance steering committee and is deeply committed to exploring how science and innovation should improve healthcare access, enhance patient outcomes, and strengthen health systems.
